Calling All Junior Rangers!

Have fun exploring Capitol Park this summer and earn a Junior Ranger Badge!
Children ages 7-12 years will enjoy hands-on activities while they learn about the plants and animals in this urban park.

Great news! You can earn your Capitol Park Junior Ranger badge all year long. Explore California’s Biodiversity in the park with fun activities in our self-guided booklet. Ages 7-12!

Download and print out our new self-guided Capitol Park Junior Ranger Guide and explore California’s Biodiversity in your local park.

Or Pick up a Copy in Person!

Pick up a copy at the State Capitol Museum information desk and the Leland Stanford Mansion visitor center.

After you complete the booklet, either check-in with our staff at either location or email photos of the completed pages to get your rewards.

In-person programs coming in Summer 2025!

Children ages 7-12 can choose from 3 programs:

  • Using a Map and Compass
  • Redwoods and Oaks
  • Urban Park Ecosystems

At your first Junior Ranger program you will get a logbook and badge. For each program you will earn a stamp in your logbook. There are over 70 participating California State Parks with Junior Ranger programs. Bring your logbook to other California State Parks to get it stamped and earn some cool rewards!

On-line pre-registration is required, and a parent or guardian must accompany the child at all times.
