This 40-acre urban park boasts hundreds of trees and shrubs from around the globe nestled in the heart of downtown Sacramento. Embark on a journey through the past and present of Capitol Park, discovering native fauna and flora, exotic trees, and fascinating stories about memorials and monuments dedicated to California’s most prominent figures.

Guided Park Tours

Capitol Park tours meet inside the park at 13th Street and Capitol Avenue (Hiram Johnson Parkway) directly behind the Capitol. In the event of inclement weather, tours will be postponed. 

Registration is recommended, but not required. Walk-ups are accepted on a first-come, first- served basis. Groups of 20 or more MUST register in advance. Reserve your spot now and embark on an unforgettable Capitol Park tour!

Summer Tours: April – October, Sunday and Wednesday 11:00 AM

Winter Tours: November – March, Sunday and Wednesday 1:00 PM
